Play Responsibly
This page applies to every Kamloops Casino player aged 19 and over. It covers you from the day you register to the day your account closes, whether you spin slots in Popular, sit at a Live Casino table or play Jackpots.
Keeping play in proportion
1.1 At Kamloops Casino, gambling is entertainment you pay for. Our lobby, Promotions and Kamloops Rewards are designed so you stay in control of the time and money you put in.
1.2 We provide practical tools so you stay in control of your play. Our team is trained to spot signs of harm, and we act when account activity suggests a problem.
1.3 Deposits open after we verify your identity and location. This keeps minors, and anyone else not permitted to play, off the site.
1.4 We accept players only where gambling is legal under local law. Canadian rules on confirming age and identity, and on anti-money laundering, apply.
Getting free, confidential support
2.1 If gambling no longer feels like fun, speaking with someone independent of the casino can really help. These organizations provide free support and information:
- Responsible Gambling Council
- Gambling Therapy
- ConnexOntario
- YMCA Youth Gambling Awareness Program
- Internet Matters
2.2 You can contact any of them without closing your account and without telling us first.
2.3 Common warning signs include:
- chasing losses
- borrowing to play
- keeping your gambling secret from family and friends
- feeling restless when you try to cut back
If you recognise any of these signs, use the tools below and contact one of the organizations listed.
Changing your limits
3.1 Any decrease to a limit applies instantly, the moment you save it.
3.2 Any increase or removal of a limit applies after 24 hours. Until then, your current limit remains in place, giving you time to reconsider.
3.3 Cooling-off breaks and self-exclusions cannot be ended early once they have started.
Using the tools you control
Capping your deposits, wagers and stakes
4.1 A deposit limit sets the maximum amount you can deposit over a time period you select.
4.2 A wager limit caps your total stakes over a period you choose, across slots, table games and Live Casino.
4.3 A stake limit caps the size of each single bet. It is a simple way to keep every spin or hand within your comfort zone.
4.4 You can set and adjust all three in your account area. The timing rules in section 3 apply to every change.
Turning on reality checks
4.5 Reality checks are on-screen alerts shown at intervals of your choosing. Each alert displays the length of your current session and your wins and losses up to that point. From there, you can carry on playing, stop, or open your limits directly.
Setting time alerts
4.6 A time alert notifies you once your session hits a length you set beforehand. It helps keep a planned evening of play to the length you intended.
Cooling-off breaks
4.7 A cooling-off break pauses your account for a period you choose, lasting at least 24 hours and no longer than 6 weeks.
4.8 For the length of the break, deposits and play are blocked and you receive no marketing. You can still request a withdrawal of your balance by email.
Self-exclusion and account closure
4.9 Self-exclusion is for players who need a longer pause than a cooling-off break offers. We lock your account, stop all promotional contact and take reasonable measures to stop you opening a new account for as long as the exclusion lasts.
4.10 You may request account closure for any other reason as well. If the request relates to gambling harm, tell us, and we will handle it as a self-exclusion so that the additional protections apply.
Checking your play with the self-assessment quiz
5.1 The self-assessment quiz we offer is a brief series of questions on how you gamble. Your answers stay private, and we never use them for marketing.
5.2 If your results point to risk, we show you the relevant tools and the support organizations in section 2. Taking the quiz now and then is a quick way to keep an honest view of your play.
Protecting minors
6.1 Kamloops Casino accepts only players aged 19 or older. No one under 19 may register or play.
6.2 Never share your password. Lock your phone, tablet and computer with a PIN or password so a young person cannot open your account.
6.3 Internet Matters offers parents guidance on online safety. Our Age Policy sets out how we verify age and the steps we take if we discover a minor.
